For this unit I will be using both Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop to create an exhibition poster containing the theme of manmade items and designed in a way inspired by my own artistic research.
To begin this task I first retrieved the images I wanted to trace ( a Penny Farthing and a Pipe) and creating two new art boards in Illustrator placed these images as a template; to work from in my layer options.
With the template in place I could then use the pen tool to trace my image. I found the tool difficult to begin with, especially in creating the wheels of my Penny Farthing; for these I need to use the circle tool. However, with a bit of practice, I found it easier to work with, especially in the creation of the ark for the frame of the bicycle and pipe stem.

Having completed my pen tool art in Illustrator I then was able to progress into Photoshop. Placing them into Photoshop I added different layers of textures I had photographed; these included wood and stone effects. I then applied multiply to the layer (found in the layer options tab) so that my line art would appear visible on top of the texture. I then needed to get rid of the excess texture left on the art board; to do this I applied a layer mask to the textured layer and carefully removed the areas of texture that I did not want with the brush tool.
This method and effect will be incredibly useful to me in the creation of my final piece as I will be using this, and other methods to create an exhibition poster. Following on from this I will be working towards composition ideas for this Poster and how I colour and texture this design.
